Evaluating Student Misconceptions

Students will undoubtedly arrive at your class with varied experiences and educational backgrounds, as well as preformed ideas about evolution. For example, a common misconception is that organisms can acquire adaptations that they need to survive. It is important to help students identify preconceptions they may have about evolution. In many cases, these become the target of anti-evolution claims.
