A Visit to Asteroid Vesta

The Northern Hemisphere

Vesta's northern hemisphere contains more craters than its southern hemisphere, indicating an older surface. Three craters, about 40 miles, 30 miles, and 14 miles wide, join at the rim to form a feature that looks like a snowman.

Troughs and bulges around Vesta's equator were caused by one of the large collisions in the southern hemisphere.
