Here are some Frame, Focus and Follow-up suggestions for using this video in a math lesson.

What is Frame, Focus and Follow-up?

Frame: There are lots of different shapes around us. Name some of the shapes you know. Are there certain shape names that could include other shapes? For example, polygons are closed 2-D figures formed by line segments. That definition could include a lot of shapes. Can you name two different polygons?

Focus: In this video segment, Bianca has a device made up a particular shape. What does she call the shape? How would you describe the characteristics of the shape on Bianca’s device?

Follow Up: Why do you think a parallelogram has the root word parallel in it? Is there more than one type of parallelogram? Can you name some?
