In this video segment from Teaching Middle School Physical Science, teacher Ayala Galton encourages her students to act as detectives in a lab concerning viscosity as a property of fluids. By describing their observations using scientific vocabulary and findings from an earlier class experiment, they identify patterns and come to understand viscosity. At the end of the lesson, they make a graphic record of what they observe in journals. This helps the students manage their predictions, observations, and inferences.
