Learn about Neptune's gravitational effect on dust contained in the Kuiper belt, and discover how it could help astronomers look for planets around other stars. This video from NASA explores the idea that if alien astronomers were looking for planets around the Sun, they could potentially detect Neptune by looking at infrared images of patterns in the disk of dust. Computer simulations demonstrate Neptune's effect on the dust and show how the distant view of the solar system may have changed since the solar system's initial formation.
