Teacher Interview: Students' Questions, Part 3 (Video)
Many times ABE learners are asked to find a missing dimension of a plane figure. This is a pre-algebra skill that is useful as learners transition to higher levels of mathematics. In determining the perimeter and area of a compound shape, missing dimensions may need to be calculated. This working in different "directions" to come to a solution can help learners to be more flexible and logical in their thinking when they come across a problem that doesn't fit the mold.
