Teacher models the "I wonder..." reading comprehension strategy for her kindergarten students and leads them in guided practice.
Teacher Patrice McCrary (Cumberland Trace Elementary, Bowling Green, Ky.) uses established routines that allow her kindergartners to function successfully as they learn how to use the "I wonder..." strategy. By generating questions, students become more aware of whether they can answer the questions and if they understand what they're reading.
